Best Advertising Agency in Vancouver

Looking for the Top Advertising Agency in Vancouver will take you to this outdated list.

Bryant, Fulton, and Shee (BFS) isn't even on the map in Vancouver anymore. I believe it became TBWA\Vancouver.

Either way, looking for the best advertising agency in Vancouver shouldn't take you to outdated directories and hopeless lists.

It should take you a concise, compelling compendium, like this: Vancouver advertising agencies

Vancouver Advertising Agency #10

This is what I love about Twitter.

You can ask the world, "What are some good small Vancouver advertising agencies?" and people out there, in the Twitterverse, will reply.

This agency came up, from a client no less. Nice! I like the work they've done for lululemon.

Vancouver Advertising Agency #8

I have haunted this Vancouver advertising agency probably more than any other, sending resumes, skis, and golden goose eggs over the years. Alvin's a great guy with a good sense of humour.

They do some really fun work, my favourite being:

I don't know much about this agency, but they have the best name of all time: St. Bernadine of Sienna (patron saint of advertising, graphic design and public relations).

Here's some of their recent work:

When I first started with Vancouver advertising, it was at TBWA\Vancouver.

I really like the stuff they do for Super 7 lottery. They won a CLIO award last year for their billboard (see below).

Vancouver Advertising Agency #3

When I was in Hong Kong I worked for Publicis. I like the philosophy of the place, and their logo rules.

They opened up a shop in Vancouver only a couple of years ago, merging with Saatchi. They have some nice work (sometimes for not-so-nice issues).

The second up in the Vancouver advertising series is Taxi.

Vancouver Advertising Agency #1

The first in our series of Vancouver advertising agencies will feature the acclaimed independent shop: Rethink.

They do some of my favourite work there. And if you can afford them, they can make you some great stuff.

I'll leave it to Rethink to sing their own praises in the comments section, but for now, the work can speak for itself.

Their BC Lions work is super fun: Vancouver advertising link

Vancouver Advertising Agencies

I guess there is no point of having a Vancouver Advertising blog without talking about some of my favourite work out of Vancouver advertising agencies.

I’ll go through, agency by agency, and talk about the work I like best.

Why? Well, as an international blog, it is nice to put Vancouver on the map.

Also, from a SEO perspective, it can’t hurt either.

So without further ado, here is the first in our series of Vancouver Advertising Agencies.

CBC Radio One

I did an interview this morning on CBC Radio One about guerrilla advertising in Vancouver.

Apparently there is a lot of backlash regarding the New Balance chalk campaign in Stanley Park. They had me there to talk about the pros and cons of this kind of marketing.

Basically, the way I see it, if it's good and the public loves it, guerilla marketing is a great way to promote your message. If the public doesn't like it, that's no good. Because at the end of the day, it's supposed to be fun.

However, if you're a small company with a big imagination, it's a great way to compete with the wallpaper bought by your boring competitors.

Here's one of my favourites from Banksy.

According to Google, the #1 Vancouver advertising agency is...

Shear Entertainment

This is one of the most incredible virals I have ever seen.

Goin’ Viral

So you want a million people to watch your ad.

Not only watch it. You want them to pass it on and share it with their friends. You want people to love your ad, and love your brand and love the thing they’re watching. It’s a tidy little piece of communications that they can send in lieu of a joke, or a wink, a nudge, or hello.

Give me viral! I want viral! Put our same ol’ same ol’ on Youtube and make it work. It’s not that simple. I'll show you through a few examples:

1. Dramatic Chipmunk

This spot had millions upon millions of hits on Youtube. It’ s hilarious, yet impossible to replicate. Its unpredictability is its strong suit.

2. Pinky the Cat

I think this is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

It was passed on, parodied, it became part of our culture.

However, sometimes you can engineer a viral ad. But it had better be a really good idea.

3. Collegehumor.com

Gordon Campbell Hates You!

The latest advertising flurry from the NDP to smear Gordon Campbell has taken a hard-line approach.

The hyperbolic campaign features headlines such as:

Gordon Campbell Eats Your Children

Gordon Campbell Killed Your Grandma

and

Gordon Campbell Hates You!

Pretty funny stuff, if you aren't Gordon Campbell, I guess.

I think this is great.

Again, I don't think it's from a Vancouver advertising agency, but it's good nonetheless.

Vancouver Advertising Agencies

Vancouver advertising is some of the best in the world. Every year, agencies in Vancouver win prestigious Cannes Lions, Clios and Pencils and produce extraordinary results for local and international brands alike. Vancouver advertising has helped to put Science World, United Way and the BC Lions on the world map.

Internationally, Vancouver is heralded as having some of the most cutting-edge, innovative communications. And considering the size of the city compared to a Shanghai, New York, or London, that's an incredible achievement.

Starting Immersion Creative in a market like this is a difficult task. But I'm up for the challenge. After all, where there is great advertising, there are also great clients looking for just that.

Vancouver Advertising

Let's call this a placeholder.

A placeholder for an experiment.

An experiment that has me clawing for the top spot on Google.

The number one spot for Vancouver Advertising.

My friend, Kristian, a Norwegian SEO master, believes that getting a blog to the top of Google is easier than a website.

Perhaps, brother, but let's see.

My argument is that blogs have their place as well.

They act as placeholders. They keep you in. Your competitors out. Lots of info. Easy to change. What more do you want? I've done it 13 times already.

"A website!" Kristian, the Norwegian SEO master stubbornly demands.

So we decided, I'll get Immersion Creative, my own website, to #1 on Google for Vancouver Advertising.

But in the meantime, I can't resist claiming that spot through my weapon of choice, the blog.
